Ash Wednesday Haiku

We wear black crosses,
Dismissed to a holy Lent.
How shall we keep it?

  1. Life beyond this life,
    This mortal dust reminds us.
    God's great Love remains.

  2. You wear dust on your heads
    For no other reason
    Than to imitate the catholics
    And pretend that religion
    Means something other
    Than something for old ladies
    Of both sexes to do
    While wearing stupid robes
    And pretending that there's someone
In the sky who demands that you
    Vote a certain way.
